Congratulations to Jill Elizabeth Davis, NanoWriMo Winner!

This is so cool. Jill Elizabeth Davis wrote a 50,000-word novel during the month of November. Which is what NanoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is designed for: Impetus to get out there and write. Shitty First Drafts, as Anne Lamott says. Just get the words written, no matter how crappy. (Um, I’m not privvy to what she’s been laying down on her pages, so for all I know her ‘crappy’ first draft is a zippy and snappy first draft!) And she’s been diligently posting her success each day. Her blog entry for today tells the happy news:

NanoWriMo: Day Twenty-Nine—I did it!

I won!!! I won!!! I finished! (Everyone who finishes wins. Hurrah!)

Today’s word count: at least 2,815 (The site doesn’t tell you your exact word count after you’ve passed 50,000.)

Total word count: 50,000+
Percent of 50,000 words: 100%!
