I'm blogging from the cafeteria of Stanford Medical Center. Someone has graciously supplied two computer terminals here with net connections.

The patient I'm here to accompany is doing well. The surgery went as it should have gone, and immediate post-operative conditions are good. I'm very relieved.

I've discovered that shuffling a deck of cards and playing solitaire is a great way to mindlessly pass time during a lengthy and intricate surgery.
